After two years of trying, Molly and Jack finally were throwing a gender reveal party. Their guests were in their home and waiting for Molly and Jack to cut the cake they prepared to reveal their baby’s gender.

Jack’s mother Nancy was in charge of the cake as she received the ultrasound results. Jack and Molly were happy that Nancy had supported them.

As everyone was looking colorful, Nancy was wearing a black dress.

Then the time come as Molly and Jack were in front of the cake, where their guests were excitedly waiting to learn the gender of the baby.

“Three… two… one!”

As they sliced the cake, people gasped. The cake was black. There were no pink or blue, as it was completely black.

The room went silent. People were shocked as Molly and Jack were too.

The evidence was there since the beginning, as Nancy was there with her pitch black dress.

She was crying, as it was weird for everyone. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know what else to do,” Nancy said.

Nancy then revealed that ten years ago, she talked to a fortune teller, who told her that if her first grandkid would be a boy, her family will be cursed. That is why the cake was black.

People gasped once again. Jack was shocked. He asked his mother that how could she believe a nonsense, a superstition.

“So, you decided to sabotage our gender reveal because of some… fortune teller?” Molly asked as she couldn’t believe what she heard.

“I didn’t know what else to do, Jack! I just… I was terrified of losing you. And now, Molly! I thought if something happened to your family because of me… I wouldn’t forgive myself. I could never.”

She then burst into tears, as she slowly left the house.
